The Rule Card
It’s not that he hated the King.
No he could stand the King well enough. It was his damn inner world that pissed him off. There was nothing to do but stare at the clouds or take a nap. What’s worse is that it rained whenever King got upset, which was pretty much all the time. Trying to have a conversation with the sword was out of the question; all he ever did was complain about the rain. And when he wasn’t doing that, he was talking in riddles or staring at the clouds.
The hollow let out an irritated sigh as he lay on the sideways building. Out of the corner of his yellow eyes he could see Zangetsu standing on a flagpole doing what he did best; nothing. “What’s the forecast for today, old man?” he pestered with fake curiosity. The sword ignored him as usual.
The pale man focused his vision on the gathering clouds. He knew perfectly well what day it was, and what it meant for the empty, sideways world. Mumbling to himself about an “inconsiderate jackass” and “emo bastard,” the white soul reaper closed his eyes to take that nap. Just as he did so, the first raindrop fell from the blackening sky and landed next to his resting body.
“When can I have a turn?”
